Category:Location not applicable: Difference between revisions

This is a category for images and galleries for which a geocoded location isn't possible, isn't useful, or would otherwise not make sense.

Things which should be included in this category are images of abstract concepts such as mathematical illustrations as well as generic objects without an identifiable surrounding such as a fork or a person.

This category is mutually exclusive with Category:Media with locations.

This category has several applications:

1. Building lists of things which still need to be geocoded, since ideally every item would either be a member of this category or have a location.
2. Searching for items which do or don't have a location (e.g. with CatScan or Tools:~para/GeoCommons/geocodingtodo.php, note: the latter probably does not use subcategories of this category)
3. Detecting geocoding vandalism.

This category is hidden and appears in the second line of categories. It is not shown if the appropriate user preference is deactivated.
